The York’s Jobs Fair returns this month and is one of several jobs and recruitment fairs taking place in the city in the coming weeks.

The twice-yearly event takes place this time at the Railway Institute’s Sports Centre, Queen Street, York YO24 1AD, any time from 11am – 2pm on Tuesday September 17.

Funded by City of York Council and organised by York Learning in partnership with Job Centre Plus, this job fair is expecting over 60 employers, training providers and job agencies.

They include: British Army, Disability North, East Yorkshire Buses, Hope Sentamu Learning Trust, Johnsons Dry Cleaners, Pro-Pak Foods, The Grand Hotel, York, The Rail Futures Network, United Response and Work With York.

City of York Council says there will be opportunities for interviews and jobs are expected to be offered on the day, so those attending the fair are asked to come prepared with photo ID and proof of their address.

Among the training providers and advice services will be Askham Bryan College, Experience Counts and York Learning.

Cllr Pete Kilbane, Executive Member for Economy and Culture, said: “Our Jobs Fair held in March this year had 1,000 visitors and 59 employers and training organisations. We’re expecting to better that on 17 September so please come along.

“At this next Jobs Fair, you can find out about upskilling or getting training, as well as updating your CV or brushing up interview skills. With that preparation in hand, job seekers can meet the organisations and businesses who have vacancies to fill – some with immediate starts, so come prepared for interviews and job offers!”

For more information visit www.york.gov.uk/YorkJobsFair or for more information about opportunities to increase your skills, visit www.york.gov.uk/Skills.

Employers, training providers and advice services can book a stand here or can email york.learning@york.gov.uk before Friday September 13.

Among the other jobs fairs, The Bridge, which has been organising job fairs since 2010, is running a job fair at the LNER Community Stadium in Kathryn Avenue, Huntingdon, on Wednesday September 18 from 10am to 1pm.

This event is also seeking recruiters.

To take part, people are asked to go to www.thejobfairs.co.uk and also to book a free ticket on EventBrite.

In addition, the UK Careers Fair returns to York on Thursday 24th October.

It also offers jobseekers the chance to meet local and national employers face-to-face, and apply directly for hundreds of vacancies.

This event is at the Hilton Hotel from 10am to 2pm.

In addition, The University of York is running jobs fairs to help find work for its law students on Wednesday October 9 and for graduate jobs and placements on Thursday and Friday October 10-11.
