As temperatures are set to rise in the UK across the next couple of days it makes you want to go and fully enjoy what Britain has to offer.

If you are stuck on choice because let’s face it there are plenty of hidden gems across the county, this research may sway your choice.

Auto Finance, who offer caravan, motorhome and campervan finance have revealed the best UK staycations.

To do this the team gathered data from Tripadvisor and looked at several factors including best campsites, food scene and hidden gems to determine the results.

Based on the factors, researchers then ranked UK counties, excluding London, based on how good they are for a staycation. The scores were then summed up to give a total score out of 50.

Meanwhile, the team also looked at the best locations for the weather. Researchers analysed weather reports from the last five years, including average temperature, total annual rainfall, and total annual sunshine hours.

  4. Kent

  5. Worcestershire

  6. Herefordshire

  7. Rutland

  8. North Yorkshire

  9. Northumberland

  10. Cumbria

Elsewhere, if you’re looking to stay somewhere where your taste buds will be happy, the data uncovered the locations with the most five-star restaurants:

  2. North Yorkshire (5)

  3. Dorset (4.0)

  4. Rutland (4.8)

  5. Devon (4.7)

If you’re into fine dining, Rutland, Cornwall and Cumbria were uncovered as the spots with the most Michelin-star restaurants whereas Worcestershire, Lancashire and Bristol were labelled as the places to go if you want to try emerging new restaurants.

When it comes to the worst spots for foodies – with the least number of five-star restaurants – they were revealed as Greater Manchester, Nottinghamshire and West Midlands.

Finally, the study also revealed the locations where you’re most likely to find hidden gems and top attractions. These were revealed as:
