Kyle Hamilton and Liam Jaundrell, who were studying a Level 3 Games Design course at Warrington & Vale Royal College, impressed bosses at 10:10 Games.

They were offered positions after undertaking a part-time placement at the Centre Park-based game developer.

This placement was part of their college course and was a chance for the students to gain practical experience in the industry.

Kyle and Liam were chosen for the placement due to their passion for gaming, strong work ethic, and prior experience.

Their enthusiasm and dedication to improving their skills set them apart from other applicants.

After three months of part-time work at 10:10 Games, they were both offered full-time, paid positions upon finishing college.

During their time at 10:10 Games, Kyle and Liam took on important roles in quality assurance, testing gameplay for upcoming titles.

Their tasks included identifying bugs, testing game mechanics, providing feedback on the user experience, and ensuring the final product met the studio’s high standards for quality and playability.

They worked closely with developers and designers, reporting issues and suggesting improvements.

The students received high praise from the company, with studio operations coordinator Lauren Urhan saying: “Both Liam and Kyle were very professional and showed a brilliant work ethic.

“They were quick to respond to any requests and demonstrated flexibility to the studio’s requirements – all key skills that will serve them very well in their future professional careers.

“They were a great asset to the 10:10 team.”

Liam, a former pupil of Cardinal Newman Catholic High School, said: “The staff at 10:10 Games were incredibly welcoming and easy to talk to, and I had a great time learning from the wider team.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, especially the multiplayer testing.”

He also praised his tutors at Warrington & Vale Royal College, saying, “The tutors on my course were amazing, and some of the best teachers I’ve had throughout my time in education.

“They were extremely knowledgeable and offered support and opinions whenever needed.

“The course was really interesting, and the open-ended projects allowed for complete creative freedom which I loved.”

Kyle, a former pupil at Weaverham High School, shared similar gratitude for his time at college, saying: “I learnt so much from my course.

“From industry links, to direct communication with the games community and even getting the opportunity to teach a lesson to first year students, I had lots of opportunities and support for my future.

“I have built connections with many people in the industry as a result of my course and even have a game credited in my name at 10:10 Games.

“My tutors made a huge impact on me, and have even inspired me to consider teaching games design at college myself.”

Both students are now heading off to university to continue their studies.

Kyle is heading to Staffordshire University, while Liam has chosen to attend Leeds Beckett University.

With a 100 per cent pass rate in 2024, Warrington & Vale Royal College’s Level 3 Games Design Course has proven to be successful in preparing students for the industry and getting them career-ready.
