Company chiefs and industry leaders from across the sectors have turned out to celebrate the launch of this year’s Ulster Business Top 100 Northern Ireland Companies, in association with KPMG.

Belfast Harbour Offices’ Barnett Room acted as the backdrop for the event, which saw Top 100 firms and business chiefs from throughout Northern Ireland mark the official launch of this year’s leading business list and edition.

This year turnover reached a record level of £35.2bn across the firms which have made the list – up 17% on the previous accounting period. However, average pre-tax profits fell by 8% to £1.32bn.

Moy Park has returned to the top spot for 2024 with turnover of £1.88bn and pre-tax profits of £18.7m.

Newcomers to this year’s list included Kingsbridge, D&W Carlisle and Charles Brand Group.

Speaking at the event, Ulster Business editor John Mulgrew said: “We’re in the Barnett Room this evening – historically tied to one of our largest firms and based just a short walk from here.

“And we’re in an area which has breathed industry for decades, even centuries.

“It’s something of a Northern Ireland private sector microcosm, and it’s reflected in this year’s Ulster Business Top 100, with many of said firms appearing on the list and joining us this evening.

“I’d once again like to thank everyone who has supported us in this special annual edition, along with those who have contributed. It helps make this all possible – showcasing the strength and breadth of our local economy.

“I’d of course like to pay special thanks to KPMG – which continues to be our partner with the Top 100 edition – and in particular to partner in charge, Johnny Hanna, and Julie Thompson.”

The event also heard from Belfast Harbour chair Dr Theresa Donaldson, who welcomed guests and outlined the port’s plans for further growth and development.
