He heads up one of the country’s best-known confectionary businesses and will be speaking about that and so much more at next month’s Business of Yorkshire Conference in Leeds.

HARIBO UK is proud of its Yorkshire heritage as a manufacturer and employer that has been based in the region for more than 50 years with sites in Pontefract and Castleford sites.

Jon Hughes is its UK& I Managing Director and his team, including 600 sweet-makers, have created and launched some of the UK’s most famous and favourite treats.

His appearance in the regional development part of the one-day conference also completes the line-up of keynote speakers at the www.businessdesk.com event at the Leeds Marriott Hotel on November 28th.

Hughes said: “HARIBO UK is proud to have called Yorkshire its home for over 50 years so I’m pleased to be representing HARIBO at the Business of Yorkshire Conference next month.

“We continue to invest in our sites in Pontefract and Castleford and I look forward to meeting up with other leading businesses in Yorkshire.”

HARIBO has continued to invest heavily in the region. In 2015 its Castleford site first started producing treats following a £92m investment with a further £22m added since then.

Also, earlier this year, it announced a new warehouse at the site, which will allow it to manage increased volumes of finished product, stock more raw materials and packaging.

Jon will deliver his address at 2.15pm and will be one of eight keynotes to appear in front of hundreds of the region’s leading business figures (see full list below).

Tickets for the conference are still available here. The event starts at 9am and is split into three segments – business investment, people investment and regional investment.

There will also be five discussion panels, each one featuring five high-profile Yorkshire business figures and the event will round off with 90 minutes of networking until 5.30pm.
