Home secretary suggests country is overly reliant on migrant workers for IT and engineering work

The government has asked the Migration Advisory Committee to examine how the UK is filling two types of technical roles, aiming to curb the country’s reliance on international recruitment.

Home secretary Yvette Cooper (pictured) made the request in a letter to the MAC on 6 August.
