Disruptions have hit travel between Vauxhall and London Waterloo stations, already causing delays to this morning commute.

A fault with the signalling system between the two stations will last until at least midday.

Lines reopened around 8am but trains may still be delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised and run at reduced speed, according to National Rail.

Severe delays have been reported between Turnham Green and Richmond on the District Line, and between Acton Town and Heathrow Terminals on the Piccadilly Line.

Minor delays have also hit the District and Piccadilly Lines.

Meanwhile, there is no service on the London Overground between Sydenham and Crystal Palace. 


Crash on A21 in Kent causing delays

There is heavy traffic on the A21 this morning near Tunbridge Wells after a crash on the northbound carriageway.

It took place at 8am this morning and the council confirmed the crash happened between the A228 Pembury Road and Longfield Road junctions.

The council warned drivers to ‘expect delays in the area’ and it is not yet known how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

A19 voted best road in the UK because of its ‘charm’

While driving may seem stressful for some people motorists along the A19 seem to disagree because it has been voted the country’s best road.

It runs from York through Thirsk, Northallerton, Easingwold, Selby and up to Teesside.

The road has claimed the top spot following a survey carried out by independent watchdog Transport Focus, which also looked at motorways.

9,000 drivers were asked to rank major roads managed by National Highways and the A19 was given the top spot with the highest overall satisfaction being at 85%.

Some of the good feedback included that it is a ‘clear road’ with ‘charm’ a ‘decent surface’ and ‘good markings’.

Part of south circular road closed due to accident

The A205 south circular road in London is closed in Catford between Canadian Avenue and Catford train station and Catford Bridge train station because of an earlier accident.

Traffic is building on the A21 Lewisham High Street this morning as a result of the collision.

It is not yet known when traffic will clear.

Bournemouth Airport roadworks

People travelling to Bournemouth Airport are being warned of works on the roads taking place throughout next week.

The A338 Wessex Way between the Cooper Dean roundabout and Blackwater junction will be affected, leading to delays on the road.

Bournemouth Airport said: ‘Please be aware that roadworks are taking place between November 4 and November 8 which are likely to affect your journey to Bournemouth Airport.

‘Please plan your route before leaving and make sure you have left adequate time for your journey.’

Engineers deployed to Liverpool Street amid delays

People travelling to and from Liverpool Street station are being warned of delays this morning.

Greater Anglia said: ‘Due to a fault with the signalling system between London Liverpool Street and Cambridge Heath some lines are blocked.

‘Train services running to and from these stations may be delayed.’

This is likely to lead to congestion and delays at Liverpool Street on the following routes:

  • Liverpool Street – Hertford East
  • Liverpool Street – Stansted Airport
  • Liverpool Street – Cambridge Network
