Curious travellers who would like to go on holiday but can’t afford big fees might be better off taking a trip in February.
Travel expert Rachel Mumford at KAYAK said February tends to be a more “affordable” month to take a city break.
Take, for instance, a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland, whereby an average economy flight – there and back – can be bought for as little as £52.
While the Christmas crowds of Edinburgh will be long gone, it’s still a great chance to visit another part of the UK that you may not have seen before.
Being the capital of Scotland, there will be plenty to see and do, such as Edinburgh Castle, the Old Town and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Another affordable destination to consider, outside of the UK, is Tirana in Albania.
An average roundtrip flight for Tirana, according to KAYAK, is £60 which isn’t bad considering you’re seeing the capital of another country.
One of the main attractions of Tirana in February is the mild weather, reaching up to 16C.
To compare, the average temperature in February in England’s capital, London, was 10C.
Closer by, if you’re up for the craic, is Dublin, Ireland, which you can travel to for £67.

Rachel Mumford added that the flights to the “continent’s most romantic cities” are “cheaper than summer prices”, so February could also be a great time to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
