Trains are not only a great way to get from A to B, but they are also a relatively cheap form of travel.

We’re not talking about your typical train either, something more luxurious where passengers can bask in the stunning scenery and get comfortable in the fancy interior.

Not only does it make the journey much more enjoyable but the trip itself can be a one-in-a-lifetime experience.

Now, research from Japan Rail Pass has found the best luxury train rides in the world and three of them are in the UK.

The team looked at Tripadvisor reviews, Instagram hashtags and global search volumes to determine the results.

They found Rocky Mountaineer, which is located in Canada, was top of the list with a whopping 54,029 Instagram hashtags.

The train journey itself, which runs four routes in British Columbia, Alberta, Colorado and Utah, is searched for a staggering 368,000 times per month.

Rocky Mountaineer goes through, as the name suggests, some picturesque mountain scenery, making it extremely popular.

GoldenPass Express in Switzerland scored silver on the list.

The journey connects Montreux with Interlaken which is a stunning town surrounded by mountains in the Bernese Oberland.

GoldenPass Express received an average score of 4.4 for its service on TripAdvisor with the train having an overall score of 8.39 from Japan Rail Pass.

Let’s take a look at the top 10 in more detail…
