People travel from miles around for the unbeatable bubble and squeak, bargain bottomless tea, delicious cakes and all day breakfast offerings served up by three generations of the same family at That Little Tea Shop in Romsey.

They invariably fall in love with the hidden gem, upstairs at 48A The Hundred, and join in with the community and charity efforts that take place there.

Last weekend, staff donated all their tips and tea sales and added them to donations to raise £586.65 for Southampton’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit after the ‘angels who wear scrubs’ cared for the newborn baby grandson of two of their favourite customers.

Jonah Robin Hunnan is now thriving at home in Maybush after a worrying week in hospital following a prolonged seizure shortly after his birth on November 8 and new families will now benefit from a spending spree from the unit’s Amazon wish list, including a Christmas tree and decorations, books, treats, milestone cards, breast pumps and bedding.

(Image: Family collection) Kelly Revill, who runs That Little Tea Shop alongside mum Jackie Clemo, sister Michelle Meech and daughter Jessica Sampson, said: “You get to know the people and they become your friends. We genuinely care about our customers and it’s great to be able to give a bit back and help them.

“We’re so lucky with all the support we get from our wonderful customers. We try and keep it local and support the community as much as we can.”

Alfie’s Wish, the Romsey charity which sends children with cancer and their families on days out to build lasting memories in memory of young Alfie Butler, is among those to have previously benefited from the café’s tips and sales weekends. Goody bags featuring toiletries and treats for families in need have been among the other community efforts.

Now a team of 15, the eatery has 366 five star reviews on TripAdvisor, earning it a coveted Travellers Choice Award.
