Teremana Tequila, co-founded by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, has launched its full range in the UK, exclusively at Selfridges.
Following the UK launch of Teremana blanco and reposado in June, the brand’s añejo expression has debuted in Selfridges’ London, Manchester and Birmingham stores.
Selfridges, which recently doubled its Tequila range to 150 different bottles to meet demand for the trending spirit, will be the first retailer to offer Teremana Añejo to consumers in the UK.
The brand will host a pop-up in Selfridges’ wine shop for a month, with tastings taking place three times weekly to help ‘Share the Mana’.
Co-owned by Mast-Jägermeister since February 2023, the Tequila is made at Destilería Teremana De Agave in Jalisco in partnership with the Lopez family, who are third-generation agave growers and second-generation distillers.
“We are thrilled to partner with Selfridges, a partner that values our commitment to quality and excellence, to bring our handcrafted, small-batch Tequila to the discerning customers of the UK. This exclusive launch represents a significant milestone for our brand, showcasing the full range of our award-winning expressions for the first time,” said Jonathan Dennys, head of portfolio at Mast-Jägermeister UK.
“We are excited to ‘Share The Mana’ with Selfridges’ consumers and offer a unique experience that embodies Teremana Tequila’s premium craft and inclusive ethos.”
Teremana launched in the US in 2020 and reached one million nine-litre cases in sales between April 2022 and April 2023.
“This is a brand that is incredibly personal to me. Teremana Tequila has been years in the making, handcrafted with the utmost care from beginning to end; we take deep pride in every drop,” said Dwayne Johnson.
The name Teremana means ‘spirit of the earth,’ originating from the Latin word ‘terra’, meaning earth, and the Polynesian word ‘mana’, which loosely translates to spirit.
Teremana Blanco, Reposado and Añejo will be available from 5 August at Selfridges stores, with prices starting from £40 (US$51).
CEO Richard Black recently told The Spirits Business that the brand will expand its distillery and launch in five new markets this year: the UK, UAE (Dubai), Australia, Colombia and Germany. It launched in global travel retail in March.
