If the past few months have taught us anything, it’s that how we address the problem of cybersecurity will play a pivotal role in shaping our lives and economic outlook. This announcement indicated that they have considered the long-term practicalities of what empowering data centres can do to address this issue head-on. A direct line to the government and pledged support means cyber-attacks do not have to be immobilising events or are less likely to happen at all.
To prevent the talent crisis from continuing its upward trajectory, data centre managers must foster a more inclusive environment that opens doors to more people and builds on the skills of existing talent. Technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), digital twins, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) can play a pivotal role in bridging these gaps.
The government’s announcement is a significant milestone in how the public perceives data centres. This positive shift marks the recognition of data centres as a critical component of the UK’s digital and economic success, rather than an activity that lives in the untouchable cloud.
