Finding the ultimate spot in Europe is no easy feat with an array of stunning countries found throughout this popular continent.
By analysing certain factors, Euromonitor International has found the best European capital for tourists.
The market research company considered 55 metrics to determine its decision, focusing on the six main pillars: tourism infrastructure, tourism performance, tourism policy and attractiveness, health and safety, sustainability, and economic performance.
After analysing all six pillars, the best European destination for 2024 was France’s capital, Paris.
Retaining its prestigious title again, Paris in France was named the world’s top city destination.
No stranger to major accolades, Paris has had a busy year, which included the Olympics, the Paralympics and the recent reopening of Notre Dame.
The city’s tourism policy and infrastructure were the two main factors that contributed to the region’s success.
With its poetic sights, including narrow streets, charming cafes, and awe-inspiring buildings, it’s no wonder the French capital has won the coveted title.
Paris is renowned for its rich architectural heritage, including the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, as well as its love of food, fashion, and art.
A whopping 50 million tourists visit Paris each year and have claimed the title of the world’s most-visited city for 2024 – its fourth year in a row as the ultimate winner.
Paris has been called the place where art and history meet with fine dining restaurants scattered throughout.
“I absolutely love Paris. I was there for the Olympics. I am excited to get back before Christmas to see the reopened Notre Dame back in its Glory,” wrote one review on TripAdvisor.
With another adding: “So beautiful and mesmerising.”
