Trevone Bay in Cornwall has been ranked as one of the top travel spots in Europe in autumn.

According to CN Traveller, it’s the best place across the continent for sea air – and it’s located near the bustling harbour town of Padstow in the north of the county.

For holidaymakers looking for a less populated, slower paced version of Cornwall once the peak travel season is over, it’s the idyllic location.

What this hidden gem, like many of Cornwall’s seaside spots, lacks in size it makes up for in beauty.

The bay offers tourists a gently shelving, sandy beach surrounded by high cliffs, featuring the iconic Trevone Round Hole and the popular tidal pool.

In fact, it was the winner of a Blue Flag Award and Seaside Award in 2024, which celebrates the commitment to environment, water quality and safety of the beach.

And Atlanta Trevone is the place to stay for those looking for self-catered, luxury accommodation on the clifftop – just a few steps from the surfer-friendly beach.

Holidaymakers can also check into The Pig at Harlyn Bay, which has beds so comfy you’ll have to drag yourself up to watch the picture-perfect coastal sunrise.

Trevone Bay is a hive of activity – both on and offshore.

With the South West Coast Path passing over the clifftops, walkers can delight in the spectacular coastal scenery and views to Hawkers Cove, the Camel Estuary and beyond.

They can also pass the fascinating 80 ft blow-hole known as Round Hole, that was formed by a collapsed sea cave, and is just one of the reasons the area is of great geological significance having been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

For those keen to discover the marine wildlife, find Rocky Beach around the small headland, aptly named for its rocky outcrop, perfect for rock-pooling.

There’s also the Trevone tidal pool, one of the largest on the Cornish coast, which is affectionately known by locals as ‘Tinker Bunny’s Bathing Pool’.
