Popular tourist destination Cyprus is known for its beautiful beaches and rich history. With the average temperature reaching up to 27C in October, there are plenty of things to do.

The island has a range of beaches, including Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa and Geroskipou Municipal Beach in Paphos. Both beaches are popular tourist destinations and have great facilities toilets, showers, cafes, restaurants, sun beds, water activities and more.

Aphrodite Beach, located in the Limassol district, is a quieter beach that has the same facilities as the others. It also has a grassy area with shade provided by palm and eucalyptus trees, which gives the ‘relaxing’ identity.

Not only is the island sandy beaches and clear waters, but Cyprus is also applauded for its adventurous pursuits. It has more than 30 designated walking trails for those who enjoy hiking. The trails range in difficulty and time, ranging from 30 minutes to four hours, meaning there’s a trail for everyone.

There are also a variety of activities to look forward such as the Secret Valley Golf Course located in the natural landscape with a direct link to the beach. Additionally, Cyprus has multiple shipwreck sites, including Lady Thetis Shipwreck, Costantis Shipwreck and The HMS Cricket shipwreck, an old British river gunboat that sank in 1947.

The history and culture of Cyprus go back 11,000 years and because of its geographical location, positioned at the intersection of Europe, Africa, and Asia, the island has a blend of historical sites from different periods and cultures.

The Archaeological Museum of the Limassol District is a free museum home to a collection of antiquities from the Neolithic age to the Roman period. The antiquities are divided into three categories exhibiting things such as pottery, coins, jewellery, tombstones, sculptures and more. The list of museums on the island seems almost endless with there.

To get to the island, tourists from Britain can take a direct flight to Paphos and Larnaca in Cyprus with various airlines such as easyJet, British Airways and Wizz Air.

Flights can be taken from multiple cities in the UK, including London, Manchester, and Birmingham. It takes an average of five hours to travel there.
