Sona Business, a wholesale provider of internet, cloud, and hosted UC solutions, has entered the UK network market with a new flagship office in Hull.

The office will be led by John McKindland (pictured), an industry veteran with nearly 40 years of experience in military telecoms, hardware, networks, and distribution.

McKindland’s career began in the military as a Telegraphist and Morse Code operator before he retrained on the Ptarmigan System.

“You could say I have experienced the evolution of modern telecommunications from dots and dashes on a morse key to the zeros and ones of data networking,” said McKindland.

He later transitioned to the commercial sector, selling cable TV and telephone services before becoming an Account Manager at Rocom.

He said: “We’ve got a UK marketplace with different connectivity and hosted offerings but we’re all kind of fishing in the same pond. What we try to do differently is provide a more wholesale approach with access to more enterprise grade solutions.”

“In terms of the connectivity market, as a Layer 2 provider we are very keen to work with as many altnets as possible.”
