UKTN, the leading technology news site, has appointed Simon Hunt as its new editor as it marks the next phase in its expansion.

Simon joins UKTN from the Evening Standard, where he spent two and a half years as the paper’s business and technology correspondent. He was previously an associate at PwC and a wealth reporter for Bloomberg News.

He will be responsible for further developing UKTN’s agenda-setting coverage, from breaking news, analysis and investigations to newsletters, podcasts and industry reports.

Simon said: “I’m thrilled to be joining UKTN as its new editor. There’s a fantastic, enthusiastic team here and I can’t wait to get started spearheading our pioneering coverage.

“The UK has the biggest tech ecosystem in Europe and there’s never been a more exciting time to report on it, whether it’s the latest advances in AI or novel innovation in fintech.

“And it’s not just about London – cities across the UK have emerged as major technology hubs, and I want to make sure UKTN secures its status as the must-read publication championing start-ups and scale-ups across all corners of the country.”

Ramesh Sharma, co-founder of UKTN, said: “We’re excited to welcome Simon Hunt as our new editor. Simon’s deep experience in tech journalism and his passion for the industry make him an ideal fit to lead UKTN. With his guidance, we’re confident that UKTN will continue to set the standard for tech reporting in the UK, delivering insightful coverage that informs and inspires our growing audience.”

Marco Callegari, co-founder of UKTN, said: “Simon’s appointment reinforces our commitment to support high quality journalism for the UK tech ecosystem. Simon’s experience will allow us to expand the depth of analysis we provide in our reporting, making UKTN the must read publication for people who work and invest in technology scale-ups.”

About UKTN: The company started life as Tech City News back in 2012, when the UK’s nascent tech industry was heavily concentrated in the Silicon Roundabout cluster in East London. Since then, the tech ecosystem has grown significantly across all corners of the UK. Our editorial focus has evolved to reflect this change and, in 2017, we rebranded to UKTN.

Our mission is to keep the UK tech ecosystem informed with coverage that provides actionable insights, fairly holds the industry to account, and champions the innovation taking place across the nations and regions.
