The service called Tubi will be funded by advertising and provide personalised streaming.

It already operates in North America where Fox said it has attracted 80 million active users.

What can I see?

More than 20,000 films and TV episodes will be on offer, Fox said, “one of the largest and most diverse content libraries in the UK”.

While no specific titles were listed Fox said users can expect blockbusters, original stories and hidden gems.

The company is “committed to listening to what resonates with UK fans” and will bring them “more of what they love”.

Programming from major distributors such as Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, and Sony Pictures Entertainment will feature.

Tubi originals, such as Big Mood starring Nicola Coughlan, will also be shown alongside Hollywood films, “modern British classics”, and Bollywood, Nollywood and arthouse cinema.

It aims to be a personalised service by using “machine learning”.

When can I watch?

You can watch Tubi “in the coming weeks” on major smart TV platforms, iPhones and Android devices and web browsers.

Tubi planned to launch a marketing campaign on 15 July.

It’s the first time Fox has launched ad-supported digital TV in the UK.

In the US Tubi’s been tied with Disney+ in viewership figures on American data firm Nielsen’s viewing trends report.
