Despite the summer being over it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy what a beach has to offer in terms of relaxing and going for a walk.

And while you may think the UK needs some hot weather to fully enjoy a beach you may be wrong.

A new study has found where is the best beach in the UK. This is according to QR Code Generator who analysed Tripadvisor reviews to determine the results.

The proportion of five-star reviews was compared to the total number of reviews, to calculate the percentage of five-star reviews for each location.

The final ranking is based on the beaches with the highest percentage of five-star reviews.

Researchers found that Luskentyre Beach, Scotland, is the highest-rated beach in the UK with 93.79 percent of reviews (1,072 out of 1,143) rating it five stars.

The beach boasts white sands, and blue-green waters, and was also named one of the UK’s best beaches in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards. It is found on the west coast of South Harris in the Outer Hebrides.

Scarista Beach in Harris, Scotland, ranked second with 90.50 percent of reviews (200 out of 221) rating it five stars. Less than six miles from Luskentyre Beach, it is rated the best place to visit on the Isle of Harris. This white sandy beach dotted with seashells lies on the southwestern coast of South Harris and looks out into the Atlantic Ocean.

Camusdarach Beach in Morar, Scotland, came third with 88.54 percent of reviews (309 out of 349) rating it five stars. Described as an arc of white, glistening sand and clear water, it can be found south of the estuary of River Morar, with views of the Isle of Skye. This beach was also featured in the film Local Hero and is a popular filming location to visit.

Marloes Sands Beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales, ranked fourth, with 88.51 percent of reviews (231 out of 261) rating it five stars. This beach has dramatic coastal scenery and vast golden sands, surrounded by wildlife and ancient history. It is located southwest of the village of Marloes and looks out onto Skokholm Island.

Sandwood Bay in Sutherland, Scotland, came fifth with 88.10 percent of reviews (185 out of 210) rating it five stars. It is a natural bay with a remote, picturesque beach on the far northwest coast of mainland Scotland. Visitors will find a mile of golden sands and dunes, with rocky cliffs and a giant sea stack to complete the stunning vistas.

Other beaches in the top ten include Embleton Bay, Ross Back Sands Beach, and St Aidan Beach in Northumberland, Rhossili Bay in Gower, and Steve’s Beach on the Isle of Wight.

Here are the top 10 best beaches in the UK:

1. Luskentyre Beach, Scotland – 93.79 percent

2. Scarista Beach, Scotland – 90.50 percent

3. Camusdarach Beach, Scotland – 88.54 percent

4. Marloes Sands, Wales – 88.51 percent

5. Sandwood Bay Beach, Scotland – 88.10 percent

6. Embleton Bay, England – 88.05 percent

7. Ross Back Sands Beach – 87.65 percent

8. St Aidan Beach, England – 86.77 percent

9. Rhossili Bay, Wales – 86.69 percent

10. Steve’s Beach, England – 86.43 percent

Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator, said: “Whilst the UK is known for its many stunning beaches, this study shows that Scotland dominates the top five ranking when it comes to high ratings from visitor reviews.

“It is notable that most of these beaches are in remote locations, which is likely how they remain so picturesque and popular among visitors. This means that it may be more difficult to find these hidden beaches than the usual seaside towns, even though it is likely to be worth the effort.”
