Shop owners and managers can enter the “best-dressed indie Christmas window” contest run by Oxford City Council to find the most decorative display in the city.

Open to independently owned stores, organisers will accept pictures of festively dressed shopfronts in the run up to Christmas and display them on Facebook, for the public to judge their favourites.

Votes cast by reactions from the public will be tallied and the winner will be announced in January 2025.

They’ll be presented with a certificate by the lord mayor of Oxford Mike Rowley, and featured across the council’s social media channels to help with the business’ exposure.

Shops can either enter their own shopfront in the competition or be nominated by members of the public.

Last year Crystal Spirit Emporium, run by Sarah-Jane Nichols in the city’s Covered Market, won the honour.

The competition was started by the city council in 2018 to celebrate the festive decoration in Oxfordshire as well as its small and independent businesses.

Last year, 13 entrants were judged by a panel from the council and public reaction on social media.

Find Oxford City Council on Facebook to leave your vote or submit nominations to citycentre@oxford.co.uk.
