A flight heading to southern Europe from Manchester Airport was forced to divert following an emergency. Flight TOM342, operated by the charter airline Go2Sky, took off from Manchester Airport this morning at around 8am.

It was heading for Ohrid, a city in North Macedonia, the Manchester Evening News reports. A large number of TUI holiday makers were on board. Around half an hour into the three hour flight, an emergency was declared and the plane landed at Frankfurt Airport in central Germany, around 1,100 miles from its original destination.

A TUI spokesperson said this was due to a ‘medical incident on board.’ They added the passenger left the plane and was ‘met by medical professionals’. The flight continued its journey, leaving Frankfurt shortly after 1pm Central European Summer Time and landing in Ohrid at 3pm.
