And now the Ceramic Tile Warehouse outlet in Kirkcaldy has shut shop and all staff have lost their jobs, according to The Courier.

Customers were reportedly still in the Park Road store on Thursday afternoon, while staff made arrangements.

It comes as the company’s website appeared to be removed.

The business also has stores on Helen Street in Govan, London Road in Glasgow‘s East End, and Coatdyke Retail Park in Coatbridge.

It’s understood the firm filed a notice of intention in August to appoint administrators.

Ceramic Tile Distributors Tiles first came to Scotland in 1998 and has 87 stores across the UK.

The company sells high-quality tiles for trade and to customers.

According to Sky News, it has managed to “withstand pressures” due to additional financial support from its owner.

The Scottish Sun has approached CTD for comment.

The tile retailer is the latest in a catalogue of organisations to fall into financial challenges in recent months.

Economic factors such as high inflation, rising prices and the cost of living crisis have forced a raft of businesses to shut shop.

It comes just weeks before another major domestic chain is expected to shut two Scottish stores for good.

Homebase are downsizing in the UK and have announced they will be closing two Scottish branches.

One of the sites set to disappear is in Glenrothes, Fife, meaning shoppers in the area will soon need to find a new alternative.

This closure is expected before the turn of the year.

Both sites are set to be converted as supermarket giants Sainsbury’s complete a huge takeover of multiple Homebase units.

But it’s not all bad news for Scots as the conversions are expected to create 1,000 new jobs.

Once all stores are closed, Sainsbury’s will convert the units into new supermarkets.
