Kamala Harris speaks to Barack and Michelle Obama as they endorse her candidacy for the White House

Kamala Harris took the stage on Tuesday at a high-energy rally with rap stars Quavo and Megan Thee Stallion in Atlanta, Georgia, a key swing state the Democrats narrowly carried in 2020.

“The path to the White House runs right through this state,” the vice-president told the crowd.

During the event, Harris slammed Trump over his potential ties to the far-right Project 2025 and challenged him to debate, despite his recent ambivalence on the subject.

“If you got something to say, say it to my face!” Harris said, to roars of approval.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden is reportedly set to headline the first night of the Democratic National Convention, before passing the torch formally to Harris.

The Harris campaign has yet to announce a running mate for the vice president, though a decision is expected in a matter of days.

Harris slams Trump on killing border bill at star-studded rally featuring Megan Thee Stallion

If Donald Trump wants to make illegal immigration a campaign issue, Vice President Kamala Harris is more than happy to have that fight.

Harris opened her appearance before a crowd of 10,000 in Atlanta on Tuesday by taking aim at Trump’s record — criminal and otherwise — and calling out the ex-president for killing the bipartisan immigration bill that was crafted by one of the nation’s most conservative senators earlier this year.

Harris took the stage after Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion whipped up the crowd.

The rapper performed four songs: “Girls in the Hood,” “Mamushi,” “Body,” and “Savage” as she exhorted the crowd to vote for Harris.

Andrew Feinberg has all the details.

‘We are not going back’: Trump campaign again attacked over Project 2025 blueprint

One of the biggest boos of the night so far came when Kamala Harris mentioned Project 2025, a far-right blueprint document for a potential future Trump administration.

“I take it you’ve seen it,” Harris said as the crowd jeered.

The vice-president added, “America has tried these failed policies before, and we are not going back.”

Donald Trump has denied being involved in the project, even though it was drawn up by allies and former staffers.

Here’s more on Project 2025.

Kamala Harris touts her border state credentials

One of Kamala Harris’s first points here in Atlanta has been to remind people that she was a top official — first an attorney general, then a US Senator — in the border state of California.

She argued that Donald Trump talks a lot about the border, but doesn’t actually put forward solutions, pointing to how his MAGA allies rejected a border bill earlier this year.

The Trump campaign has been turning up the border-related attacks on Harris in recent days, so expect a lot more discussion of this.
