Nobody has been made redundant at LV= General Insurance in Frizzell House, County Gates, Westbourne, but roles that have been lost due to natural attrition have been replaced.
Staff at LV= General Insurance have told the Echo that they were called to a virtual meeting last week where bosses told them of the expansion in India.
The staff members were reportedly told three new call centres have recently opened in India employing more than 4,000 people.
A spokesman for Allianz, which owns LV= General Insurance, said the company is “heavily focused” on growing the business in the UK and it is “investing in our people and new Bournemouth office”.
“We are always looking for ways to develop our high levels of customer satisfaction,” he added.
“For a number of roles where we lose UK staff to natural attrition, such as when they retire or change jobs, we now plan to replace some of these roles in our Allianz centre in India, who we’ve worked closely with for almost two decades. There are no planned redundancies.”
One staff member, who asked for anonymity, said: “Some of us are worried we will eventually be made redundant.”
Last summer, it was announced that LV= General Insurance staff will move to Stour House in Deansleigh Road, which bosses described as a “more sustainable working environment”.
Employees will stay in Frizzell House, which has been the home of LV= since 1996, until the end of 2024.
The roundabout where Frizzle House is located has been commonly referred to as the LV roundabout or Frizzell roundabout for many years.
Just off Castle Lane East, Stour House was chosen by the major insurer as its new home for meeting sustainability requirements.
Although based in LV=’s offices in Westbourne, insurance firm LV= General Insurance is a separate entity to the life and pensions products and services firm.
At the end of 2019, LV= sold the General Insurance business which includes travel, motor, home and pet insurance, to Allianz Holdings plc.
LV= granted a licence for Allianz to use the LV= brand for its suite of products.
