Proactive Investors – JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:) has confirmed that it is closing a distribution warehouse in Derby, which will results in close to 200 jobs being lost.

This was one result of a strategic review by the -listed sportswear retailer of its global supply chain network.

It has operated the 514,000ft Derby facility since 2021.

A JD spokesperson told trade press that it was a “difficult decision”, having started a redundancy consultation in July.

Last month, the group reported a big improvement to 8.3% sales growth in the past quarter but saw profit margins squeezed by spending on promotions.

Chief executive Régis Schultz cautioned at the time that “the global macro environment remains volatile and so we continue to be cautious on our outlook for the rest of the year”.
