Hong Kong is seeking to deepen ties with trading partners in Europe, with the city’s finance chief set to make his second post-pandemic trip to London after heading to Madrid for four days.

The Post learned that Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po could also meet British officials, months after the country’s Labour Party took office, when he visits London and Madrid at the head of a tech-focused delegation.
The trip was announced as Chan travelled to Beijing alongside Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, with the pair promoting investment opportunities at a forum in the nation’s capital.

The finance chief is set to depart for Spain on Saturday evening, spending four days there, including meeting businesses and other local stakeholders to promote Hong Kong’s “burgeoning innovation and technology scene” at a lunch event.

A government statement said Chan would reach London on Wednesday and “meet with members of the local political, business and financial communities”.
