Nestled on a quiet side street in Convent Garden, the authentic Mexican venue is the first of its kind.

They serve traditional Mexican food and tequila against an ambience true to the south American culture.

Cafe Pacifico has dubbed itself the self-proclaimed father of Mexican restaurants in London.

Today it was awarded the Timeless International Award for World’s Best Bar, The Spirits Business reports.

Filled with traditional artwork, bright colours and Mexican music, the restaurant only serves classic dishes.

Expect to find tacos, empanadas, margaritas and mezcal all on the menu at the Langley Street eatery.

The restaurant has even welcomed famous names like Freddie Mercury, Kenny Everett and Cleo Rocas.

Queen frontman Mercury wore his Cafe Pacifico shirt during a European tour.

The restaurant’s founder, Tomas Estes, was introduced to Mexican culture by his neighbours in California.

He has his own tequila brand and the Cafe has won best margarita in town three times in a row.

Chefs at the venue have also experimented slightly with the classic menu, adding some bold twists to iconic favourites.

Dishes on offer include pulled pork chilli, Baja style sea bass and king prawn, homemade chorizo and potato tacos.

They also serve empanadas, a tomato chipotle salsa, Tex-Mex deep-fried burritos and fajitas served on skillets.

A certain cocktail bar in London made a list late last year for the world’s best.

While Brits are more commonly known for their boozers, it was the swanky Connaught Hotel bar in Mayfair that wowed judges enough for them to include it in the top 10% of their list.

The list is put together by more than 500 industry experts, who celebrate the finest drinking destinations across the planet.

They said that the Connaught Bar was the perfect example of “fine drinking and elegant hospitality”.

An extensive list of top celebrities have visited the establishment, including Taylor Swift.
