French producer Distilleries et Domaines de Provence (DDP) has released its herbal liqueur Elisir in the UK through Emporia Brands.

Herbal liqueur Elisir is made using a blend of herbs and spices that are sourced locally

Elisir MP Roux has been made using ingredients sourced from the local mountains and shrublands surrounding the distillery in Forcalquier, Provence.

The expression was launched in response to ‘growing global demand for French herbal liqueurs’.

It was made with a blend of herbs and spices using distillation, maceration and blending techniques.

The liqueur is said to have a ‘complex’ flavour profile and is recommended served neat or used in cocktails.

Elisir MP Roux is available to stock in the UK through spirits distributor Emporia Brands.

Alain Robert, DDP’s owner and CEO for 44 years, has handed over the business to his son, Antoine Robert.

“I am honoured to continue this adventure surrounded by passionate collaborators and loyal partners who distribute and represent our brands around the world,” said Antoine Robert, who has big ambitions for the future of DDP.

Today, the company sells its products in more than 40 countries across the world.

In 1990, Alain Robert launched Henri Bardouin pastis, described as the fourth leading brand in France and the third biggest in the export market for French aniseed-flavoured spirits.

The company’s leading brand is Absente absinthe, which launched in 1999.

Exports of French spirits declined by double digits in both volume and value last year due to destocking by wholesalers in the US.

French liqueurs saw volumes plunge by 17.5% (down by 8% in value) in 2023.
