The Great Rail Journeys group has announced promotions within its US and UK leadership teams, in a move to further company-wide support development and growth.

The international travel business has announced that Liz Owens has been promoted to SVP, General Manager of Vacations By Rail, the US division of Great Rail Journeys. Since her appointment in 2022, Liz has been behind the brand’s impressive double-digit growth and with continued focus on strategic initiatives Liz will now oversee the US Sales and Service teams, bringing commercial attention to the brand’s primary customer touchpoints.

Missy Paul has been promoted to Director of Independent Operations of Vacations By Rail, bringing a big focus to the Independent programme. Missy has a great deal of experience, having worked in travel for 16 years and will use her expertise to grow the independent programme over the next few years.

Sarah McMullen has stepped up from Head of People to Director of People of GRJ, stating “I’m delighted to be recognised for my contribution and I’m excited to continue leading the people agenda for GRJ and Vacations By Rail.” As the business is driving growth of 30 per cent, Sarah is leading the development and talent management of a growing team across two continents. She will help deliver the people change programme that will secure the ambitious plans over the coming years.

Dave Riley (GRJ Group CEO) commented: “I am really pleased to see the continued development of our teammates who are driving the business forward at a rapid pace. It is fantastic that we are able to retain and develop both our long serving teammates (Missy) as well as some newer team members, Liz and Sarah. I have no doubt they will continue to grow and develop both the business teams and themselves as we navigate the next phase of our great journey.”
