Tastesmiths, founded by Sam, Nish, and Kru Mistry in 2018, has been named as one of the nation’s 100 most impressive small firms by Small Business Saturday UK.

The siblings, who live in Gidea Park, produce curry kits made with fresh ingredients and spice mixes.

Their business was selected as part of this year’s SmallBiz100 line-up and Kru said they are “so proud” to be recognised by Small Business Saturday.

He said: “We’re passionate about helping the country cook delicious tasting meals at home.

“We believe in business being a force for good, and we will continue to highlight the positive impact of eating real, fresh food on our health and the environment.”

The Tastesmiths co-founder said the company was inspired by their mum’s cooking, as she always used fresh ingredients.

The Mistry siblings make all of their kits in their own kitchen based in Purfleet, and roast, grind and blend their spice mixes by hand.

Kru said: “We believe that nothing tastes better than a meal made with real, fresh ingredients.

“Our kits are not only better for our health but also for the environment, as there’s no food waste at the end of the day.”

Tastesmiths will be profiled by the campaign on September 17 as part of the 100-day countdown to Small Business Saturday UK.

The siblings have also been invited to the House of Lords as part of the campaign, which Kru said they are “really looking forward to”.

Michelle Ovens CBE, director of Small Business Saturday UK, said: “It’s great to celebrate Tastesmiths as part of this year’s campaign.

“This year’s SmallBiz100 list shows the huge contribution small businesses make to their communities and the wider UK economy.”

The Small Business Saturday campaign has been running in the UK for more than a decade and aims to celebrate small businesses, as well as encouraging consumers to shop local.
