Specialty managing general agent GBN Risk Solutions (GBNRS), which was introduced by GBN Worldwide in February, has added Houssam Yehya (pictured) to its leadership team in London as director and group head of international.

Yehya, who boasts over 15 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry, will spearhead the development and operations of GBNRS. He will report to Jamil Elbahou, chairman of GBN Worldwide parent company Silverbrook Holdings.

The new director will focus on facilitating access to GBNRS for wholesale and retail brokers seeking to issue programmes internationally with ease. The goal is to enable them to navigate the complexities of placing risks in over 150 countries through GBN Worldwide’s extensive network of over 10,000 insurance and risk management professionals.

“We are excited to announce the appointment of Houssam as head of GBNRS,” Elbahou said. “With extensive international experience, knowledge of global markets, multiple business lines, and partnerships with local brokers and (re)insurers across the globe, Houssam is a perfect fit for the role, having grown his career in and around the GBN network and he is well known to members.”

Commenting on his new post, Yehya noted: “I am excited and honoured to have the opportunity to continue working with the team and to help establish and grow this new venture. GBNRS will play an important role in growing international business for GBN Worldwide and its members by helping the wider insurance community to place risks in territories outside their jurisdictions.”

When GBNRS came to life earlier this year, Elbahou highlighted the challenging nature of administering foreign insurance and reinsurance programmes, pointing to how the MGA plans to assist in ensuring compliant and seamless undertakings with brokers.
