Six British autonomous vehicle startups are set to receive a share of a £600,000 grant pot to accelerate the self-driving sector.
The funds will be delivered by Zenzic, a government-industry partnership group tasked with championing UK autonomous driving.
The funding injection marks the latest iteration of the CAM Scale-Up UK programme, launched in 2020.
So far, 22 startups have been funded by the project.
The latest cohort includes Blueskeye AI and Maaind, which are developing facial and speech recognition technologies to determine driver-fatigue levels, indicating when an autonomous system would need to take over.
Other startups being backed in the 2024 cohort include Moonbility, Opteran, Deontic UK and Saif Systems.
“Through CAM Testbed UK, they can test their solutions in as close to real-life scenarios as possible and accelerate their route to market. All the while picking the brains of some of the brightest minds in industry, it’s a real collaborative way of working,” said Mark Cracknell, Zenzic programme director.
“CAM Scale-Up UK is not just about providing funding to businesses and leaving them to fend for themselves, it’s very much a wrap-around support programme which provides those successful with everything they need to truly realise their potential.”
