Euro 2024 Predictions: Best Bets & Tips For Monday's Games

The Panel’s Predictions For Monday June 17:

The Panel have a best bet for each of Monday’s three intriguing matches at Euro 2024, including the much-anticipated tournament debut of France.

Les Bleus have been jostling with England for top spot in the outright market on UK betting sites in the build-up and punters should get a decent indication of what we can expect from Kylian Mbappe and co when they take on dark horses Austria.

Austria and France square off in the last match of the day with Romania and Ukraine opening proceedings at 2pm in Group E.

That’s followed by Belgium’s clash against Slovakia with the Red Devils strongly fancied to get off to a winning start.

What better way to start the working week than with three matches at Euro 2024 and here’s our top tip for each game.

Romania Vs Ukraine, Monday 2pm

Ukraine made the quarter-finals of the last European Championship and The Panel wouldn’t be surprised if they produced another strong showing in Germany.

They face a tricky opening game, though, against Romania, a side that topped their group in qualifying and hasn’t lost a competitive international in two years.

The Tricolours are 3/1 outsiders on football betting sites for Monday’s clash in Munich with Ukraine having been backed in to odds-on in a lot ofplaces.

Those prices have been skewed by a couple of poor showings from Romania in the build-up to Euro 2024 and it would be dangerous to read too much into those results.

Ukraine look the better side on paper with La Liga’s top scorer, Artem Dovdyk, spearheading their attack but opening up Edward Iordanescu’s compact and well-drilled team will be a challenge.

Oleksandr Zinchenko’s anticipated move from midfield to left-back in the wake of Vitalii Mykolenko‘s injury won’t help Ukraine’s fluidity and their tendency to make slow starts may give Romania time to settle.

Only Portugal (nine) kept more clean sheets than Romania (six) in qualifying and they’ve only lost six times in 24 games under Iordanescu.

The draw, which has landed in seven of Romania’s last 12 games, looks a big runner in a game both sides can ill afford to lose with a fixture against group favourites Belgium still to come.

The Panel Tip: Draw – 5/2 BetMGM

Belgium Vs Slovakia, Monday 5pm

The window of opportunity is slowly closing on Belgium and their ‘golden generation’ to win a major tournament. Can the Red Devils be crowned Euro 2024 champions in Germany?

On paper, their group doesn’t look the toughest, but games aren’t played on paper. An opener against Slovakia is a chance to open their campaign with a win.

The Belgians are ranked third in FIFA’s latest world rankings, while Slovakia are lurking in 48th place, perfect for an upset.

It’s Domenico Tedesco’s turn to pick the team and he will be under pressure to make sure his side come through the group stage unbeaten.

Slovakia won’t make things easy for the Belgians, and while they cannot match their opponents for skill, they can make the game as physical as possible, within the laws of the game.

Amadou Onana topped our ‘Bad Boys At Euro 2024‘ study and he will have to be on his best behaviour against Slovakia.

Onana was booked in his first two games at the World Cup in Russia and we expect his name to be taken in this contest.

The Panel Tip: Amadou Onana to be booked – 13/5 Betway

Austria Vs France, Monday 8pm

Co-favourites France open their Euro 2024 campaign against Austria in their Group E clash in Dusseldorf. Les Bleus were underwhelming in the last edition of the competition, being knocked in the round of 16 by Switzerland.

Didier Deschamps’ side then fell agonisingly short of winning back-to-back World Cups, losing on penalties to Argentina in a breathtaking final in Qatar.

France have both experience and quality on their side and will look to make a statement against Austria.

However, Austria did reach the last 16 themselves in Euro 2020 before narrowly losing out to Italy. Ralf Rangnick has the experience and nous on the sideline to make life difficult for Les Bleus as they look to get up to speed.

France’s form entering the Euros is not overly encouraging for a title tilt, drawing a blank against Canada last time out, while they have a defeat against Germany on their recent record.

Still, Kylian Mbappe and company should rise to the challenge, although The Panel are expecting Austria to make them work.

It might not look overly impressive as France find their feet, but The Panel like the odds of 11/4 for Deschamps men to win by one goal.

The Panel Tip: France To Win By One Goal – 11/4 Bet365
