First of all, Rich, I’m not sure Chilwell will start at
left-back. If Luke Shaw is not ready, which seems likely, I can see Kieran
Trippier starting there but again, like Chilwell and Shaw there is a major
injury issue there as well. This position is emerging as a real problem. This
is why Liverpool’s Joe Gomez might find his way into contention.

I do think Chilwell’s loss of form is down to so many injury
absences. He just hasn’t been able to get himself going and certainly did not
do himself justice in the friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.
