Communications system specialist Clear-Com has supported the Rise Academy Summer School 2024, a series of workshops designed to immerse students in TV studio builds and live broadcast production.
Clear-Com oversaw events in studio A and guided the setup in the large lecture theatre for the summer school, now in its third year, which saw students build a fully functional TV studio and create content for a quiz show.
Access to industry-leading media technologies for the next generation
John Sparrow, senior systems consultant of UK sales at Clear-Com, said: “We were thrilled to be part of such an impactful event that allows the next generation to experience real-world media production.
“Clear-Com was integral in providing the communications systems for both studios, utilising the award-winning Arcadia Central Station with Helix-Net control panels and FSII wireless, all installed and operated by the students”.
Students rotated across audio, cameras, VT, graphics and vision as part of the programme, under the guidance of Sparrow for studio communications.
The event also featured explorations into emerging virtual production and cloud technology, giving students a broad view of the media landscape from pre-production planning to live execution.
Sparrow reflected: “It’s inspiring to see young people take such an active interest in media technology.
“Our role at Clear-Com is to make sure teams can communicate seamlessly, and watching students grasp the importance of reliable communications during a live production was a rewarding experience.”
