The space industry is in a worrying state. The UK still can’t conduct space launch activity from its shores, and while it has been heartening to see the value of the space sector discussed in Parliament, the pressing issue of when the UK will commence commercial launch remains unanswered.

Delays in regulatory approval and a lack of a strong space champion within government circles for several years have left many, including myself, wondering whether we need to be prepared for difficult decisions ahead of the upcoming budget.

The UK space ecosystem is eager to see how the Labour administration will create a supportive and productive industry environment. A thriving space sector will enable us to close the gap with other nations, such as the US and China, foster wider growth and job creation, and put the country on the path to greater economic success….
