Champions can outgun their hosts
City are four points adrift of leaders Arsenal but have two games in hand, however anything but a win at the Amex Stadium will hand the initiative in the Premier League title race to the Gunners.
Pep Guardiola’s side drew 1-1 here last season – when they had already wrapped up the title – but they have won the other four of their previous five meetings with the Seagulls.
Both sides have scored in four of those fixtures and also in City’s past three Premier League games, all of which they have won, against Aston Villa (4-1), Crystal Palace (4-2) and Luton Town (5-1).
And both teams have scored in 23 of Brighton’s 32 Premier League matches this season, including their 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium in October, so we’re backing that to happen again but with the champions to emerge with the victory they need.
Brighton vs Man City tip 1: City to win and both teams to score @ 13/8 with Paddy Power
De Bruyne worth a shot
One man who has been key to City’s quest for an unprecedented fourth consecutive league title is Kevin De Bruyne, who is equally adept at creating chances and taking them on himself.
De Bruyne has registered 17 shots from outside the box in his 12 Premier League appearances of an injury-hit season, plus seven from outside the box in just two Champions League matches.
We’re expecting him to have ample opportunities to add to that tally against Brighton in what should be an open game, and to have at least one effort on target from outside the box.
Brighton vs Man City tip 2: Kevin De Bruyne 1+ shot on target outside the box @ 10/11 with Paddy Power
Veltman in for a testing night
Joel Veltman faces either the frying pan or the fire tonight, with Jermey Doku or Jack Grealish likely to be in direct opposition to the Brighton right-back.
Veltman has collected only three yellow cards in 23 Premier League appearances, but has conceded three free-kicks in the last four of those.
In what should be an end-to-end match, we’re backing Veltman to find his way into the referee’s notebook this evening.
Brighton vs Man City tip 3: Joel Veltman to be carded @ 16/5 with Paddy Power
