BRIDGEND county-based transportation aid, Assisted Mobility Services, has won ‘Most Dedicated Disability
and Elderly Support Service in Wales’ in the SME News UK Enterprise Awards 2024.
The locally run service offers transport to the elderly and disabled for days out, appointments, shopping
and leisure activities with their wheelchair adapted vehicles and trained staff.
Linda Wongham, founder of Assisted Mobility Services, is thrilled to be recognised by the awards.
She said: “We are absolutely stunned by winning another award! Our business journey has been so enjoyable
and rewarding.”
Linda set up Assisted Mobility Services with the aim of supporting the elderly and people with disabilities
to lead independent lives.
After ten years working in Social Care and caring for family members, Linda knew that getting people out
of their home to socialise with others was essential for their health and well-being.
Client, Elizabeth Jones, said: “It would be a big problem for me to get to appointments without them. They’re
really very caring and take you every step of the way.”
Linda wanted to put her knowledge, training and experience to use and so in 2017 she purchased her first
wheelchair adapted vehicle.
With support from the charity PRIME Cymru, which offers over 50s in Wales free business mentoring, Assisted
Mobility Services was established.
Linda has since won multiple business awards, including PRIME Cymru’s Growth Business Award 2018, presented
by the charity’s founder HM King Charles.
Linda said: “I hope it will inspire other people as anything is possible when you believe in what you want
to achieve in life. In my case it was helping the most vulnerable in society.”
