BetterHelp, the world’s largest online therapy service, has partnered with Alcohol Change UK as the headline sponsor for the 2025 Dry January® Challenge.
This marks the first time the campaign, now in its 13th year, has welcomed a headline sponsor and highlights BetterHelp’s ongoing commitment to promoting mental health and wellbeing.
The partnership was introduced and brokered by Orchard Media and Events Group, based in Cardiff.
The Dry January® Challenge, Alcohol Change UK’s flagship initiative, supports millions of people each year in taking a 31-day break from alcohol to reset their relationship with drinking. BetterHelp’s involvement strengthens the campaign’s ability to provide holistic support to participants, helping them unlock physical, mental and emotional health benefits.
For BetterHelp, the partnership represents its first sponsorship of a UK-based health campaign. With the number of people planning to go alcohol-free in January growing from 4.2 million in 2019 to 8.5 million in 2024, the collaboration comes at a time when the demand for tools and support has never been greater.
Alcohol Change UK offers a comprehensive suite of tools to help participants succeed, including the Try Dry® app, daily coaching emails, and an active online community. BetterHelp will enhance this offering by providing resources that address the intersection of mental health and behavioural change, empowering participants to build healthier habits and prioritize their wellbeing.
Olivier Sinson, Senior Director of Partnerships at BetterHelp said:
“The Dry January® Challenge provides an opportunity for people to take positive steps for their health and wellbeing, and we’re thrilled to support Alcohol Change UK in expanding its reach and impact.
We believe that everyone deserves access to mental health support, and we’re excited to help participants discover tools that can make a meaningful difference in their lives, not just in January but all year round.”
Danielle Houliston, Executive Director of Income and Engagement at Alcohol Change UK, added:
“This collaboration with BetterHelp strengthens our ability to help people reset their relationship with alcohol, unlocking not only the short-term benefits of an alcohol-free month but also the lasting changes it can inspire. Together, we are ensuring that participants have access to resources to support both their physical and mental wellbeing.”
Ceri Powell, Head of Sponsorships and Partnerships at Orchard Media and Events Group said:
“Orchard Media and Events Group understands the transformative potential of the Dry January® Challenge and its ability to inspire healthier lifestyles. We identified BetterHelp as an ideal partner to align with the campaign’s values, ensuring meaningful connections with a growing audience that is committed to positive change.”
