Mawgan Porth is a charming settlement in Cornwall, England only four miles away from the incredibly popular seaside towns of Newquay and Padstow but the perfect place to visit for anyone wanting a fun beach destination without the crowds.
This little-known town is a beautiful sight with its traditional white Cornish cottages scattered across its dramatic cliffside and its golden sandy beach below.
It has been described as one of the “best” seaside spot and beach to visit in the UK according to CN Traveller, and said that locals have “managed to keep this hotspot mostly under wraps for years.”
The tranquil atmosphere of the beach makes it the perfect place to relax or take some photographs. However, the area is also known as a quiet surfacing spot with lifeguards nearby, a surf shop and even a surf school nearby for all ranges of experience.

Mawgan Porth beach has also been described as “one of Cornwall’s best-dog friendly beaches” by Perfect Stays as your furry best friend is allowed on the beach all year round and the beach stretches out for miles which makes it the best spot for dogs to run around.
Once at Mawgan Porth visitors should make their way to the Bedruthan Steps, a towering rock formation known for its incredible views of the ocean. The name ‘Bedruthan Steps’ comes from Cornish folklore about the giant Bedruthan, was was said to use the rocks to travel across the Atlantic coast.
The Bedruthan Steps is also perfect for wildlife lovers as it is known to be a great birdwatching spot but what makes it a beautiful hike is the gorgeous wildflowers in the area, with flowers such as purple heathers and yellow gorse making it the perfect backdrop to take photographs.
After taking the sights visitors should visit the historic Carnewas Tea Room which overlooks the Bedruthan Steps, as this cosy establishment is famous for its cream tea scones and was once an old mining stable that has been transformed into a pretty cafe with tea gardens.

Mawgan Porth’s laidback atmosphere has been praised by visitors on Trip Advisor, where it has been rated highly as the perfect place for a beach day out.
On popular review said: “Such a beautiful beach and with the tide out there was plenty of sand for the kids to play on. A perfect day out.”
Another tourist wrote: “A wonderful beach, nice shallow runoff so you feel safe with the children, but enough wave power to give the excitement of wave jumping, body boarding and on a good day surfing.”
Someone else commented: “It was a perfect sunny day to spend at the beach. It’s a nice beach that has lifeguards on it, with the usual flags for swimmers, body boarders and surfers. It was nice to see people flying kites too.”
