This legendary 50-hour train journey takes passengers right through the heart of Australia.
It is an experiential tourism-oriented passenger train service operating between the northern and southern coasts of Australia.
The journey begins in Darwin and ends in Adelaide.
Stops on the journey include Adelaide, Alice Springs, and Darwin on the AdelaideDarwin rail corridor.
Operated by Journey Beyond, it takes 53 hours and 15 minutes to cover the 2,979 kilometres (1,851 mi) journey.
There is also an option for extended stops for passengers to embark on off-train tours.
The Ghan is often hailed as one of the world’s greatest passenger trains.
It usually runs just once per week.
