One of Britain’s biggest bakers has expanded the use of AI in its bread manufacturing process after striking a deal with software business IntelliAM AI.

Hovis has signed fresh contracts with IntelliAM for its consultancy reliability services, which support reliability and stability in the manufacturing operation.  The technology will be deployed across three large Hovis sites in East London, Nottingham and Glasgow.

IntelliAM AI did not confirm the precise size of the deal but said the service and project orders will be worth “in excess of £100,000” over a 12-month period, starting next month.

Sheffield-based IntelliAM AI plc specializes in developing AI-powered software solutions for the manufacturing industry. Its platform machine learning to optimize industrial asset management, improve productivity, and reduce operational costs. It is aimed at analysing the millions of data points produced by machines such as alarms, vibration, oil consumption and energy usage, to support businesses hamstrung by skills shortages, system compatibility issues, tight budgets and legal compliance.

Founded in 2023, the company raised £5m in IPO proceeds after it joined the Aquis Stock Exchange Growth Market in July, giving it a market cap of around £15m. A day after the flotation, the South Yorkshire software company completed the acquisition of engineering group 53 North in a £5m deal.

The contract is the second won by IntelliAM AI in as many months after the company last month unveiled a new two-year deal with an undisclosed alcoholic drinks manufacturer worth “a minimum of £100,000 per annum”.

IntelliAM shares were unchanged following today’s announcement.
