When it comes to travelling sometimes experiencing the world on your own is eye-opening.

Not only do you get to wake up when you want, do the things you want to and go to places that you want to eat at but also get to create your own itinerary.

While for some people travelling on your own may seem a little daunting thankfully there are apps and networks out there which can help keep you safe.

The team based the research on factors including the average cost of a meal, flights (from the US), a hotel, the number of cultural attractions and the destination’s safety.

So, where in the world is the safest for travellers?

Berlin was named as the top location thanks to a staggering 12.43 museums, theatres and concert halls per 100,000 people.

The German capital saw the average hotel cost of £128 (€152) and the average meal coming in at £23 (€28).

The city was ranked as one of the most affordable on the list albeit excluding flights.

Berlin not only has a wealth of history with the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie and Brandenburg Gate.
