Comms Council UK (CCUK), the trade association for telecommunications companies that provide services to business and residential customers in the UK, has announced Tracey Wright has been elected as its new chair.

Wright succeeds Eli Katz, who, after 20 years of service, stepped down as chair on the 6th of January. Katz has been conferred with the title of lifetime president.

Wright (pictured) has been selected by CCUK’s Council in light of her significant contributions to the association and industry.

In recent years, she has led CCUK’s Industry Developments Working Group and co-founded the Women in Telecoms group, which now supports 188 members.

Wright will act as chair in a voluntary capacity, leading CCUK in acting as the voice of advanced communications in the UK, alongside her role as managing director of Magrathea, a long-standing CCUK member.

Wright commented, “I am thrilled to be stepping into the role of chair in an exciting year for CCUK as we celebrate our 20th anniversary. I’ve been involved in the association from the beginning, and we’ve gone from strength to strength; with a whole lot more to come in 2025.

“Alongside some celebrations and reminiscing, I will ensure that CCUK remains a leading voice in the sector as the UK moves to all-IP communications and remain laser-focused on key issues for our sector, including fraud, the upcoming Fixed Voice Telecoms Market Review and continuing to champion women in telecoms.”

Eli Katz new title of lifetime president follows a 20-year tenure as chair. His tenure began with the establishment of CCUK (then known as ITSPA) in 2005, with him overseeing the association’s growth from a founding group of 12 members to its current community of 100 companies. Today members include network operators, service providers, and consultants.

Katz added, “I am incredibly proud of all that CCUK has accomplished over the last 20 years, and I look forward to supporting the association to the best of my ability going forward.

“Alongside the Council, I am delighted that Tracey Wright has been appointed as CCUK’s new Chair. Her multifaceted skillset, with a strong industry perspective, effective multi-stakeholder engagement, and political nuance, will stand us in good stead to grow the association and continue acting as the beating heart of the UK telecoms industry.”

CCUK will host its inaugural Fraud Summit on 5th March 2025 at One Birdcage Walk in London. The event will explore effective sharing of data and information, with telecoms providers offered a range of panels and expert presentations.
