Job Description
This role is pivotal in the development and delivery of the programme at The Box. Working closely with the Head of Collections & Programme and the CEO of The Box together with colleagues you will initiate and deliver ambitious exhibitions, commissions, displays, public programme and off-site projects. The postholder will also work on new acquisitions for the collection. Fundraising will be important for all aspects of the work. You will undertake curatorial research, work closely with artists and consider audience engagement as part of your practice
Job Requirements
To initiate, develop, curate and deliver commissioning opportunities and exhibitions for artists in response to the collections and spaces, which may lead to acquisitions. (30%)
To manage the development, curation, and production of the commissioning programme, including additional fundraising, with support from the Fundraising team. (25%)
To create new exhibitions and displays, incorporating those developed in collaboration with colleagues. These will include those that develop and showcase existing collections at The Box. (20%)
To network locally, nationally and internationally in order to develop partnerships with artists curators and arts organisations. (15%)
Evaluation of contemporary arts programme with emphasis on talent development. (10%)
Job Responsibilities
Work with and across The Box teams to plan a project-based commissioning and exhibitions programme.
Produce a realistic timetable and costed delivery plan for the programme.
Liaise with The Box Engagement team to devise and plan an exciting and innovative community engagement programme to improve the physical and intellectual access to the artistic programme, targeting key priority audiences.
Integrate evaluation and monitoring systems into programme and analyse data for opportunities in talent development and audience engagement. Project management
Develop and deliver a range of exhibition, commissioning and collections projects including those with national and international partners.
Seek and generate applications for additional funding sources where required.
Establish project teams for the specific commissions and exhibitions. Support and supervise project staff and volunteers where appropriate.
