Tidings in Padstow is featured on the list from The Times alongside six other establishments.

Discussing how they decided on who to include, the publication wrote: “Given it’s the first week of December, even the Grinches among us might admit it’s putting up the tree time.

“But before you dust off the same old fairy lights, consider if your Christmas scheme requires a refresh.

“Whether you need new hand-painted baubles or novelty trimmings (a cheese-shaped glass ornament, maybe?) the UK’s finest year-round Christmas shops have the lot.

“The seven featured below (open seven days a week, unless otherwise specified) are in some of the country’s most popular tourist haunts, so you can turn your shopping trip into a full-blown festive weekender with seasonal nibbles, entertainment and a cosy hotel too.”

The full list can be found on The Times website here.

What was said about Tidings in Padstow?

Tidings was praised for several reasons, including the use of a snow machine all year round and the unique decorations you won’t find anywhere else.

The Times wrote: “Debbie Morris-Kirby opened her Christmas shop in the backstreets of Padstow, 150 yards from the quayside, after an inspiring trip to a Christmas village in New England.

“Drawing in customers with year-round flurries from her outdoor snow machine, she focuses on sharing quirky decorations you won’t find elsewhere, whether that’s delicate, handmade Fabergé-style glass eggs, 3D Mickey Mouse decorations, or baubles hand-painted with Padstow harbour scenes (closed Sundays; tidingspadstow.co.uk).

“Give yourself time to shop for stocking fillers at Truro Christmas Market (until December 24; trurochristmas.co.uk) and stay a few nights at St Edmunds House, owned by Rick Stein, to be within walking distance of the chef’s clutch of restaurants.”

On the shop’s website, it mentions you can find decorations made by designers such as Gisela Graham and Jim Shore.

It adds: “We always have a wide selection of glass decorations and baubles in sizes to suit most trees.

“We also carry a selection of smokers and nutcrackers all of which are hand made in Germany by Christian Ulbricht. Our Lemax light up houses, figurines and scenery pieces are always popular.”

On Google Reviews Tidings has earned a 3.9/5 score from 22 reviews, with many enjoying the shop all year round.

One person wrote: “It was a wonderful Christmas shop with so much selection. Beautiful baubles and decorations.”
