With winter well and truly underway in the UK, things this side of the world are feeling a little dark and dreary.
It’s hardly surprising that a new destination is rising through the ranks as one of the most popular places for British expats to relocate to.
This tropical paradise is famous for its stunning beaches and rich history, but its Government also has a number of initiatives to lure Brits over.
According to Wise, over 40,000 Britons reside in the country, with John Mason reporting a 255% increase in relocations since 2018.
Simon Hood, executive director of John Mason International, said: “There are a number of incentives Thai authorities have launched to lure Brits overseas.
“The Long-Term Residence (LTR) visa introduced in 2022 offers a ten-year residency for skilled professionals, retirees and investors, even offering certain tax exemptions.
“These measures, along with simplified business registration, make Thailand more accessible to Brits looking to work and put down roots.”
Thailand is a gorgeous country and its beaches are famous across the world for their long stretches of white sand and azure blue seas.
With over 1500 miles of coastline and 1430 islands there are a lot to choose from.
One of its most stunning is Railay Beach in Krabi Province, which is surrounded by towering cliffs offering impressive views.
Because of these cliffs, Railay is only accessible by boat – but the cliffs also offer incredible opportunities for climbing and cliff jumping if you’re feeling brave.
If you’d sooner keep your feet on the ground then the beach is perfect for that too – long stretches of white sand and a crystal clear sea offer the perfect day lazing on the beach.

Thailand is dotted with gorgeous temples where tourists are welcome to explore.
One of the most famous is Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) in Bangkok.
This Buddhist temple has stood at its site above the city since 1351, and is one of the only temples in Thailand where you can climb its main staircase.
