Things were furry and festive in central London today as more than 100 dogs donned Christmas outfits for a fundraising parade.

The animals and their owners made their way from St James’s Park toBuckingham Palace, via the Mall this morning.

It was all part of the Rescue Dogs of London Christmas Jumper Parade.

The event, organised by the Rescue Dogs Of London And Friends, raises funds for Hungary Hearts Dog Rescue and ZEM Rescues, which rehome dogs from overseas.

Prizes for the best-dressed pets were awarded in Green Park, next to the Palace.

Among those vying for the coveted titles were several four-legged Santas, puppy elves and a French bulldog dressed in a chic red beret and pink jacket adorned with red bows.

A Christmas jumper parade for corgis will be held in London on December 7 and a Christmas Hyde Park sausage dog walk on December 15 will see dachshund join the festivities.

It was a rather mild day in the capital today, with average temperatures of around 13C, so perfect for a walk with your four legged friend.

But with the recent chilly weather, you might be wondering when is it too cold to take your pet out?

Earlier this month Lorna Winter, co-founder of puppy training app Zigzag, offered her expert advice on cold weather and dogs.
