At least two people have died, with five more seriously injured after a horror bus crash in France – near to the Andorra border.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the incident in Porté-Puymorens, at around 5pm on Sunday evening (December 1), firefighters confirmed.

The number of people injured is “likely to change”, according to officials.

The coach, which had around 40 Spanish tourists on board,, hit the cliff on the RN 320, a mountainous road between the Pyrénées-Orientales, Ariège.

The road has been closed to traffic in both directions.

Around 100 firefighters have rushed to the scene, along with the rest of the emergency services, French publication BFMTV reports.

Six vehicles from neighboring departments, as well as Spain – and helicopters from Civil Security and Samu were also dispatched to the site.

Surrounding hospitals have been put on alert in case they are required to help as the number of casualties are expected to increase.
