Tipper truck builder aims to bring up to 100 jobs after buying Dunfermline site

The company, which builds tipper trucks, have bought eight acres of land to house a building of 50,000 square feet. The new site will house around 50 extra staff, however the company says it hopes to eventually employ between 80 and 100 people there.

The news comes as car recycling and reselling firm Copart, has also announced it is buying a large swathe of land on the edge of the city, bringing around 50 jobs to the area.

At their financial year end in September 2024, Thompsons UK had constructed and delivered 1085 vehicles and had a group turnover approaching.

The new site will be the company’s largest to date and will provide a new home for Thompsons Scotland, ServiceTech Scotland, and Eparts Scotland. The company already have factories in Croydon, Blackburn, Edinburgh and Dover.

Thompsons UK officially got the land at Fife Interchange North near Amazon on Friday (November 8) and moved into the site on November 13.

“We are the UK’s biggest truck body builder, we build 40 tippers a week.

“We would like to employ a lot of people in the area.”

The company is looking to hire people in IT, design, and engineering. They also hope to run their own apprentice scheme and need joiners, electricians, and welders.
